The heat shield on my b16 exhaust manifold looks like s**t and makes it hard for me to replace the dipstick after checking oil. Will removing it cause any damage to other components from the heat???

no .. but it will look stupid with a rust colored header ... you could take the heat shield off/paint it and put it back on =)

i would take the heat shield off and paint it if it looks that bad. you really dont change your oil that often right? if honda put it there. its there for a reason.

just paint it with a high temp paint.

I had mine off for over 6 months and nothing went wrong. Just looks ugly when you open the hood and see a rusted OEM header .

I think I may have t remove the shield cause the where the bottom bolt goes it is rusted out. So it rattles like no other when the fan is on. How much are new one's?

People don't use heat shields for aftermarket headers so you will be ok without it.. but if I were you just take it off and paint it... Cause like everyone else is saying your headers are probably rusted and it will look ugly... I actually might do this on my next day off.

how do you take it off tho. i tried taking mine off today but the o2 sensor is in the way. I dont know how to take the o2 sensor off. I dont want to take it off the manifold. i just want to unclip the plug connected to the cable on the left side of the engine block. I have a d16z6

if you unclip the o2 sensor, the clip may slide through the hole in the heat shield that the o2 sensor goes through, if that doesn't work you will have to remove the 02 sensor, with an o2 socket, but the shield should fit around it.

I tried to unclip the o2 sensor but when I do it the clip is still attached to the block. The toner half of the clip is free to move but that's the part I don't need. I wouldn't like to take the o2 sensor off first kuz I don't know and second that since it has been there fork long it might just brake trying... Iknw this clip can be taken off the engine block but I can't figure it out. Can I have some help here pls?
