So today after Den and I got my exhaust installed. we
were heading to Jotech to get my tokico struts installed.
anways we raced and once i hit 3rd gear my car came alive.
i mean it was a complete change of pace .
we went from being equal. first and 2nd to me going about 5 cars past him once i hit third.
i dont have a Tach so i couldnt tell what my rpms were but
i guess im trying to figure out why it would do that.
that never happened in my 98 so im lost.
my engine is a d15b7 is what is on the block.
supposedly it has 219,000 miles on it. but i can now say that is impossible.
anways anyone reading this and wants to laugh go ahead. im in complete shock as to why it would just jump up in power like that.
it was almost like vtec kicked in it was that abrassive.

anways enough rambling..

What kind of exhaust? new header? new cat?

What speed were you going in 3rd gear?

To be honest, a D15 is nothing to frown upon... it may not have quite the power of a D16, but it can pull off nice feets of power in mid to upper RPM.... on accelleration, it can wined up faster than Den's automatic D16Y8 (damn torque converter weighs a ton)...

There's also a matter of weight... Den's EX weighs a good bit more than your car, what with those power windows and locks and such.. not to mention, you're in an all around lighter chassis now.

Believe it or not, my 97 DX pulls on my brothers 98 EX pretty easily...

Also... I used to have a 91 Accord with 260,000 miles on the stock F22A... ran like it was brand new, and pulled on V6 Mustangs all the time.... mileage is almost meaningless on a good honda engine. As long as you don't over heat them, and do your regular maintenance, they'll last just about forever.
