Opinions and Advice for my 97 civic

Let me start by saying that I am new to this forum and i just recently bought a 97 honda civic off of craigslist, the problem, everything is stock except for the air intake.

I have always loved the look of civics and going to meets and seeing the upgrades others have put on their cars. But now that I have my own, I want to ask for some advice on what brands and parts are best for the type of things I want to do. ( i know can be worded better but can't think of the right phrases)

I have just changed all of the fluids, spark plugs gave it a thorough clean and replaced some fuses and everything works great. This civic is a 5 speed manual transmission 1.6 liter stock engine coupe and I want to first work on the cosmetic part of the civic by getting wheels, getting it lowered, adding a spoiler. (other ideas are appreciated)

After the cosmetic is taken care of I was hoping to start working on getting an exhaust system put in and i was wondering which systems perform the best for the money.

and then after this is taken care of I want to later work on getting a new engine/transmission in and I have a few mechanics that will help me with the swap but I was wondering what engines should i be looking for and where i should be looking for them. The performance i want out of it doesn't have to be racing standard, i am mainly looking for something that can compete with friends for fun and get a quick 0-60 on.

this build will be slow because i am a college student and i have a job but i am putting half of every paycheck to my tuition. basically i am trying to find parts that are great for the price.

**the civic that I have is a dx i forgot to mention that the first time along with that I live in Florida.

First things first, you're gonna need to tell us what civic you've got.
CX, DX, LX, EX, SI, etc
Also where you're from, as the canadian models are a bit odd with the trim levels

I have skunk 2 coil overs and camber kit and some no name struts. the struts suck but very happy with the coil overs and camber kit. I and near the lower end of the coil overs not sure the exact drop but I can put both kids it the back without scrubbing. anyway I am really happy with there products.
