I have a stock 97 civic EX that keeps overheating, I've done some searches and tried somethings that I've found but can't quite narrow it down so here we go:
Yesterday I tried bleeding the coolant and it didn't solve my problem, but here is what i learned.
My top radiator hose is getting hot (but no flowing water threw it) and the bottom radiator hose is staying cool with water in it. I let the car sit at an idle with the radiator cap off to try and get any air out that was in there. After 20 minutes of sitting there, my radiator fan cycled twice, but the top radiator hose still doesn't have water going threw it ( i squeezed the top hose and it feels empty). My temp gauge is showing normal operating temperature but it seems that the water is just sitting in the lower hose not going anywhere.
If the car sits running long enough the coolant starts to boil out threw the overfill bottle (but the temp gauge still reading normal levels). If i start driving the temp goes up and down then it starts boiling out.
Car has new Water Pump and Thermostat.
I took the bottom hose off the thermostat housing and the top hose off the radiator and was easily able to blow completely threw the system. (so i dont think i have a clog)
As of right now, only thing I can think of would be the car needs a head gasket but I havent had time yet to run a compression test or check the head, but I DO NOT have coolant in my oil. BUT with my radiator cap off, if i was to rev the car bubbles rise to the top every time.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I wrote this clear enough for you all to understand whats going on.
Overview:
-Fan is Working
-No CEL
-New Thermostat and Water Pump
