My Oxygen sensor is faulty. My question is can I put a o2 sensor from a '99 civic SI (low mileage) to my civic '98 LX ?
Mechanic said I needed a genuine honda, but I dont want to pay much.

i would imagine you can use any newer honda o2 sensor... just make sure the same number of wires are used and see if the colors are the same... cause i used the o2 sensors from my Ex when i did my motor swap and they are workin fine...

Oh I see.
Is it any bad driving with the O2 sensor faulty?
I don't mind MPG...gasoline here is way cheaper than US.

it's my understanding that the O2 sensor keeps your car from running lean or rich. it sends that readings to the ecu so you should make sure that the ecu in your O2 sensor and the one that you are swaping in are similar, but i think that gen 6 ecu's are pretty much the same.

Thanks, but I think that it's better with a genuine honda.

If they plug up, it will probably work. The O2 sensor just reads the amount of oxygen in the exhaust and they all pretty much work exactly the same.

The primary O2 sensor is the one in the front..between the radiator and engine?
Could anyone tell me where to buy genuine Honda O2 sensors online less than $100 with shipping?

as long as its the same o2 sensor it wont matter. your dealer will almost never tell you to use anything but a honda part. if your car has a warranty on it still you should use honda parts.
