Oxygen sensor issues

Gotta 1999 HX with 218k miles. Around 190-200k miles the check engine light came and it showed p0420. So I looked around and noticed that the exhaust manifold had cracked. So I ordered a genric exhaust manifold from eBay along with a new O2 NTK 5-wire sensor. I installed eveything and drove the car and everything was fine. Around 215k miles the check engine light came on again and this time it showed p1163 meaning front O2 sensor slow response. So I figured maybe thr sensor went bad and ordered another generic 5-wire O2 sensor since the price for the NTK one has gone up. I installed the new sensor and erased the code, but after a few miles of drive the check engine light came and it showed p1162 which means O2 sensor slow response again. Before it was p1163 but now p1162. So I searched around for possible causes and I saw a few posts and one of the causes might be the PCM being too sensitive and Honda released an updated PCM to correct this problem.
My only issue with this how come the PCM was fine for the past 200k+ miles and now it suddenly it became "too sensitive"?

They are different, P1162 is not slow sensor:

P1162 HO2S11 Circuit Fault (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P1163 HO2S11 Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Basically, the ECM is either seeing output voltage too high, or too low.

Make sure the sensor is plugged in, and that the wires look good and aren't damaged.

I also believe the HX model primary o2 sensor is wideband, not narrowband like most others. Make sure you have the proper sensor in there. Since you're using a generic one, I would get or test another one.

Thanks for the reply

The first sensor that I bought was the NTK 24300 http://www.ebay.com/itm/NGK-NTK-24300-L2H2-L1H1-5-wire-Wideband-Oxygen-Sensor-/301015651676?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4615ee555c&vxp=mtr

The second sensor that I bought was this one, and surprisingly it came in a Honda box with the same Honda part number on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161528522917?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Now when I'm driving the civic, it seems to idle really low almost as though its about to stall.
I'm thinking I'll just bite the bullet and purchase another NTK sensor. The wiring looks good as far as I can see.

Hi, I have a 98 Hx with the crack exhaust manifold too. You should get an NGK or Denso oxygen sensor. I dont think its a PCM problem. The internal resistance inside the O2 sensor must be really accurate or else it wont respond as fast. Remember the O2 sensor only work on a 1 voltage scale. I use the NGK and Denso and never have any problem. Good luck.
