Help,
I just had Timing Belt, water pump, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil, wires done on my Civic.
After getting a reading of misfire on all spark plugs I replaced them to find out the mechanic had swapped my plugs and the thread stripped, engine light comes on once in a while and I reset it by diconeccting the battery.

Can anyone direct me to the right direction for this is getting very aggrevating:cussing::cussing::like::cussing::angryred::twisted:

What thread stripped? What plugs were swapped?

Any other codes besides P1399?

Did you replace the stripped spark plugs with new ones? Or are you saying the threads in the head for the spark plugs are stripped?

Why didn't you take the car back to the mechanic who caused these problems?

Yes the spark plugs and head was stripped,I took it back to the mechanic he was the one that put the new ones in and said that the head it's aluminum and it would retread by itself. Oh and quess what he moved out of town.

Do a cylinder compression test to see whether compression is lost through the stripped threads. If so, you probably need to replace the engine head.

In the future, learn to do your own tune up to avoid the mistakes of knucklehead mechanics. A tune up is a pretty easy job.

Ron J,
Yes I did read your last thread and I did a compression test,it was fine I've also put another set of Sparkplugs in my car that's when I diconnected both post on battery and waited 20 minutes before I reconnected it and the engine light hasn't come on for the last 3 days.

That's good. You just need to continue driving the car to see whether the CEL remains off in the long term or whether the code eventually returns.

By the way, a simpler way to reset the ECU to clear CEL codes is to remove the 7.5A hood Back Up fuse for 3-5 minutes.
