I got a friend with a p28 for sale but he doesnt know if its 5 speed or manual. I know it has sumthin to do with the numbers on the side but cant remember what theyre sposed to be. I looked all over this site can someone helpo me out?
not sure if you can tell by the numbers on the ECU, but if it is auto, i heard there is a chip you can take out, a resistor chip or sum'n and it will be like a manual . . .
Yeap you can. There is either an M or an A (M being manual, A being Auto) on the sticker on the ECU. Like with my p13 it said p13 M and some other numbers.
You know the numbers on the side of a p28(or any ecu)? My numbers read - 37820-p28-a02-760-701161. Obviously the p28 is what kind of ecu it is. The A02 is whats important the A is like the revision and the 0 means 5 speed. If it read xxxxx-p28-A(anynumber 1-9)2-xxx-xxxxxx it would be auto. thats what the shop told me anyway and they are reputable. Did that help?
the auto ecu has says a5o on the side but still works in the manual car. it will just throw back a check engine code. in other words you can still use it your light will just come on. i'm doing it in my eg right now
n00b, thats no way to make friends here. he was just confused, give him a break for gods sake, no need for name calling and insulting here, were just one big happy family
