Hey, when I got my intercooler Greddy sent stencles to put their name on it. I did some searching and it seems the primary problem here is clogging the fins. What do people think of putting a few very light coats of paint on the front of the I/C to have the Greddy logo? It will be mounted behind my stock EM1 bumper... think it will even be visable? Is high temp paint a must when going on the I/C?

Thanks,
Dana

i would do it, i think that looks really cool. theres an s13 thats rollin around these parts with a huge FMIC with the blitz logo on the front. looks really cool.

and if your worried about it being visible, you could cut out the bars in the center of the bumper :what:

painting the whole thing sacrifices cooling .... but just a logo will be fine.

I would say to hell with a company logo and put your own. Make it more custome. So long as the paint does not cover more then 50% b/c then those areas will be harder to cool and will make the air retain its heat.

As far as a paint goes, select something that both can tolerate high temps and can (going all chemistry here) can disipate heat quickly. I would say anamal paint, but anamal retains heat somewhat. Plain spray paint will not servive the heat and looks trashy.

Have yourself an expirement. Take some pieces of aluminium (since it absorbs radiant energy easily, and disipate heat quickly) and spray half with one kind of paint and leave the other half in painted. Do this on several pieces on a nice, hot sunny day. After about an hour measure each half of each piece seperatly. Then, take them inside for 10 min, and measure them again. The one with the highest sun temp and lowest cool down temp would be a good choice since that paint does not retain heat well.

heres HT's/TD16 "professional" analysis:

do multiple light coats
it will effect cooling but at a marginal level.

not to sure I want to do my own logo or name. If I was outta school and had my own shop them my name/logo (already designed) would go on. But if I do open a shop, it would be 2 years from now and I dont want to role that name until its up and running.

However I am thinking about going with "Greddy" on it, I'll just wait and see if you'd even be able to see it through the stock bumper.

Take me for instance, my 300zx, fmic is ganna have the nissan z on it. My civic, which is ganna be a b20, is ganna say "b-bopin'". I plan on opening my own shop next year, doesn't mean I'm ganna put my companies logo on it. Its about being an o.t. Original tuner. Anyone can have a greddy logo, but a penis beating up the pope for all I care, just be original.

And the light layers thing....hmmm.... Sounds better then my idea, I'm bad for taking the bill nye route, lol

I say go for it with the GReddy, it should be cool, any high heat paint should be okay, just make sure its a reputable company like Duplicolor or something
