I went to the Junkyard and found the exact color interior on a 4th gen civic. My 4th gen's driver seat is shredded to death and I badly want to replace it with something stock (no seat covers, etc...). The car had a mint passenger's seat so I bought it. I was hoping that the seats were the exact same and the rails were different, but unfortunately they are not. The seats actually are different and have different mounting spots for the rails.

Is there a kit or something that will convert a passenger to driver and vice versa? I was hoping to use my shredded seats mounting rails on the mint passenger but I don't think it will work.

What have you guys done? I have hear of you guys using different seats from different cars? Has anyone actually tryed to convert a passenger to a driver and vice versa?

Thanks and any hekp will be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest to keep looking and find a driver's seat, cause in all honesty, I can't think of one instince I've seen that done bro.

Well, thanks for the reply. Too late though because I already bought the seat. I am going to give it a shot. The odds of me finding a blue stock hatch 4th gen seat and not torn condition is slim to none

it'll be ghetto, but you cut off the old rails and weld the drivers side ones on from the old seat.

I'm going to try some "Home Depot" stuff in order to get it to work... I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks

It looks near impossible without "ghetto"-fitting it somehow. I have a new idea and I'm going to see if this will work. The only part on my seat that is shredded is the top part (for the back). I will try to swap that out somehow. It is a little mismatched, but won't look as bad as keeping the shredded seat. This will do me good for now unless I find another Blue 4th gen Hatch in the yard again..

Thanks. Will let you guys know if it works. I'm still thankful I was able to find backseats! : D

I got it to work as close as I could!! :}

I will try to take some pics so you guys can see.

So here is the FINAL word on converting a passenger seat over to a driver's seat and vice versa..

I used the bad seat as the guinea pig to see how the upholstery was put together and completely removed the seat cover and seat cushin for the back part. I then carefully removed the good seat cover and cushin from the passengers seat moved it over to the driver's seat frame. I had to trim the passenger's seat cushin in a few spots. It looks GREAT! Doesn't line up perfectly, but it will do for now until I'm lucky to find a good driver's seat. Honestly, I might not look for a driver's seat. Looks good!:lol:
