Right, there is no difuser and there also isn't any reflector. Those are supposed to be there on vehicles in the US.

damn it. that plastic thing is the difuser, correct?
so it makes sense to me when people "clear" their headlights, reflector and all, its illegal...?

Yes and yes.

I asked a few years ago if anyone ever saw a set of lights like USDM ones but with a clear reflector, but no luck. I wanted to at least try to be legal. If you get there there's a good chance you won't get caught though, if it makes a difference.

It is not street legal but I guarantee that 1 out of 100 cops know this. I'm sure that JDM is not a term thrown around the local PD. I've never heard anyone getting pulled over for CTR headlights and my girl has never had a problem w/ her CTR's.

alright, sweet thanks for the info nofx.
im tryin to keep my car legal also, but the 5-0 around here i dont think would even notice. they usually stick to loud systems and speeding. so i dont think theyll notice no reflectors on my headlights. but im more worried about that diffuser no being on there..like how much difference does it make without it there?

without the diffuser it's pretty noticeable, rather than a directed beam imagine light EVERYWHERE. I believe that in Japan the city lights are used in the city and the others are only out of the city so a large spray of light would be okay.

I have the gunmetal knockoffs with a diffuser and orange reflector and they are nice.

I've never heard anyone else with CTR or SiR headlights in the US having a problem. Make another thread maybe and ask if anyone has had issues.

Kind of a old thread, but I bought the SiR headlights from Password for my 98 hatch. They are awesome looking compared to stock headlights (IMO). I was a little hesitate on wiring them yself, but I ended up doing. It just takes time to solder, heat shrink, etc etc. it took me a afternoon to get them in, but I also went about hiding the headlight wires so they aren't noticeable. I'd highly recommed. even better with the GE Nighthawk bulb!
