Blue one is the IP Bus, Small black one is a input for a wired remote control
PM me for the product manual

yep, bestbuy also sells the adapter that fits the blue plug. Its just a direct connection for your ipod, you also access it through AUX mode on your pioneer deck.

is the black input not for a 3.5mm cable to plug in any external mp3 player? i have the 4800 in my car and that is what i used it for...i have the 3800 also, but have not hooked up a 3.5mm to that one....hmmm, i will have to check on that tom and let you know, and myself know-lol...g'luck and post here if you find out before i do

ps b/c the 3800 also comes with a wireless remote...so why the need for a wired? i'll check on it

so, from what i read on the internet, it is an aux input, just like in my 4800...so, you can get a long 3.5mm cable, and run it from the back of the receiver into your armrest, glove box, or wherever you choose, then switch the Aux on through the receiver, and when you press the big silver button to scroll through sources (Tuner, CD), AUX will come up and you can listen to your MP3 player through the receiver...pretty nice ay? well, gluck and if you have more questions, lmk

The little black one is for a Wired Remote, WR is clearly printed on it, and the website confirms it. The 3800 does NOT have the extra jack that the 4800 does

The wired remote would be useful if you were to integrate it into Factory steering wheel mounted controls

I have the manuals for most pioneer units if anyone needs one PM me

You can get a few adapters for it, personally I use the ipod one, but as an aux i have one that turns the blue IP bus into a set of rca's (the CD-RB10) http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/support/details/0,,2076_310070343_35681,00.html
then get a rca to 1/8" jack and boom you can hook up any computer, mp3 player, sat radio, whatever has a headphone jack

you want the ipbus to rca aux input.

And please make shure you turn the aux of the deck to on, just so you don't have to post up it doesn't work.

Turn the deck off and enter the function menu to turn the aux on

and on the black plug what 99 said
