so this guy wants to trade me his boosted eg hatch for my stock Civic ex coupe.
idk if its a good deal. there has to be a problem with the car right? its my first car and im trading for a turboed car...my car just has straightpipe and AEM V2 intake.
should i trade him? im looking at it tommorow morning and we might sign over slips.
my car has 208,xxx and his car has an unknown amount of miles. im thinking its about the same. his car has a d15b Vtec boosting 8psi.
is it a good deal? please help ASAP!

vin check, and look at every inch of the car. idk why you would trade for a boosted one to a stock one

and if you have the resources, do a vaccum test off the manifold, compression test, whatever you can do to check the health of the motor. look in the coolant to see if oil or anything has gotten into it, take it for a cel scan incase he took the bulb out, just do everything possible to cover your ass. check turbo for shaft play, look under the vc for burnt oil or anything, check spark plugs, if power steering check if the rack leaks(might not seem like a big deal but they can be very expensive and a b***h to change) might be work now but saves in the long run.

after all, he is going from turbo, to stock.

If it sounds too good to be true, it prob is.
If you have to ask if it's a good deal, that's one indication that you should stay away.

Have you even asked WHY he wants to make this trade?

This is just my take on it because I'm suspicious of everyone:
Something is wrong with his boosted hatch, owner does not want to deal with it, but wants to find some sucker with a stock Civic that will trade him for his headache.

RUN AWAY! Do not do it your going to get stuck with a pile of junk. If anything do a comp. test before trading for it. and like stated above check the turbo for shaft play and go over every inch of the car. If your not sure what to look for take someone that is with you. 2 sets of eyes are always better than 1.

I would always keep stock and reliability over modded and unknown. There is most likely a problem with it, bc I wouldn't do that trade if I was him.

I would be very careful. I had the chance of trading my bone stock EG hatch for a EG coupe with a type R motor in it. The day before I go look at the car the guy tell's me how the tranny is messed up. I would take someone with me who is very knowledgeable with car's.
