i have reasently got a 93 civic dx.i am unbale to find out what is worng. so for a have taken care of all the engine codes but code 43.
symptoms
#1 no powerat all. *when pulling out from a stop there is a lack of power, its kinda for like if you were to pull out in 2ed gear.
#2 fast idle when it is in gear, when it is in park or nutral the engine revs up and down.<--- this probelm can be stopped by pulling the vacume line of of the intake manifold that runs to the map sensor.
#3 backfireing<--- while in any gear the engine will bogg out then kaboom and a shitload of smoke and carbon.
#4 umm about 170 to a tank of gas.
so far i have replaced the map sensor, vss(variable speed sensor), fule filter head gasket, valve cover gasket, iac valve
any ideas if you need any more info just ask

so every one knows i have the spelling abilty of a 3ed grader haha

Have you checked all the spark plugs, wires, rotor, ditributor. Check all your vacum lines as well that is an older car and vacum leakage can cause some issues as well. The back firing and trouble at idle makes me question your spark. I am not fully understanding some of the things you have said. There is something wrong with the firing of the cylinders. Maybe even make sure your timing belt is ok. Also make sure you don't have a valve stuck closed or open. What type of engine is it? Is it the D15B7?? Is there any mods on the engine??

Another thing, I was wondering if you have checked to make sure you are getting good fuel pressure. Attach a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel filter and see if you have an issue with the fuel system back before the fuel fitler. The fuel pump and lines are another concern if you are missing it could be caused by insuficent amount of fuel making it to the cylinders. This also means you should be sure that all your injectors are working correctly as well. Maybe try some stp fuel injector cleaner. Let me know if that helps you figure it out, and if you find the problem let me know what it was.

yes i have replace spark plugs, wires, rotor, ditributor ( well i took the ditrbutor off a friends car that runs fine to see if that was issue but that was not it). all spark plugs are new and gaped corectely. as for a vacum leak if i pull one off the problem goes away???? i am not sure why. the engeine is a D15B7 no mods as of yet. i have a AEM cold air sitting here for it. everyhting eles is stock.

To me it sounds like you got a vaccum leak somewhere. But if your getting a fuel code, I guess you could replace you fuel filter.

#1... o2 sensor. Had the same problem. Around 4k it would pick right up, but before then I was getting passed by pedestrians.

#2... sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. Check your IACV and TB gaskets and make sure all your vacuum lines are connected. I see you seafoamed it so that requires using a vacuum line.. make sure it's reconnected properly

#3... idk, intake valve working properly? engine timinig? ignition? I also hear clogged fuel filters and bad fuel pumps can cause it.. with would also explain #4... or even a bad cat.

#4... pump/filter?

EDIT: You seafoamed it and it was black? Seafoam should produce a white smoke... black smoke.. seems like the car is running rich on fuel... also would explain a bad fuel pump.. which would explain #3.. and #4... check the fuel pump and filter.

yeah its running rich as f**k. i have not replaced the fule pump yet but that next on my list. and i was told the o2 sensor was relpaced. by the shity dealer i got it from. so idk and as of right now this car gets beet off the line by a metro:cry:

it looks as it some one hes replaced the cat or gutted it. i would go with the second one just due to the sound.
