Whenever I change radio stations, or change between the radio/CD player, my speakers/subs make a LOUD ass poping noise. Anyone have any idea whats up? I have a Sony Xplod CD/Tape HeadUnit with a 10 disc changer in the trunk), Sony Xplod speakers, and Sony Xplod subs. (Dont tell me its b/c Sony is junk. I dont care if you think Sony is junk. They never used to do it, and now they are). Any ideas?

Check all grounds, if ALL your speakers are making the same popping noise then the problem is located at your head unit. If you run your cabin speakers from your headunit then it could possibly be the internal amplifier going. There could numerous things I could name out, but the problem is more than likely comming from your head unit.

Yea, the volume knob on my H/U is broken too...I unpluged the front speakers, and I use the front/rear fade for volume control.....ghetto as hell, I know. But, it works until I get a new H/U. Ill double check the grounds, but I dont think its the grounds. I kind of had a feeling the internal amp on the H/U was going....so the only way to fix it (the poping noise) is to get a new H/U, right? I have all the speakers/subs running from an external amp (mounted on the back of the back seats), so nothings comming off the H/U 'cept for the wires going to the amplifier....

It could also be condensation in the amps (It makes a little pop more noticeable). Also, do your amps have the quiet turn on feature? Does you HU remember the last volume level played after turn off? (You should be turning on your system with the volume down to start)
