Has anyone here had any luck with porting and polishing their D16Y8 engine? What did you gain in terms of performance? And who would you recommend in the southern California region to do this work?

Thanks,
Bamboo

From experience you get sik numbers, i do'nt know exact numbers because i have not dyno my car yet, but let me tell you,it's completely noticiable. Me and my friends did it on my car, becuz they own a Machine shop, and they polish things for Boeing which is an aircraft place, these cats have been doing it for around 7-9 yrs i believe, and we worked on my car, and we polished and ported my intake manifold, and wow, you should feel the difference in my car. Where are you located? Maybe you can find me, and you can feel the difference yourself, and we can talk about doing it for your car. Might i remind you we haven't even polished my heads yet? You will easily get around 60 hp polishing your heads and adding a cam. The job they do is incredible, and if you like to contact me, email me at Chango_racing@yahoo.com ... pretty soon imma be coming out with my own line of performance parts, so if your interested keep me notified.

60 hp.. not likely. most aftermarket d series cams claim a gain of 7-20 hp (manufacturers claims are always suspect) crank hp... your gonna tell me that you get 40-53 from a p&p job.. i dont think so. i think you have a case of riceritis, in which hp numbers grow substantially from real numbers to fake numbers. to get 60 hp, you need to substantially raise rpm and probably compression too, which requires a full head and bottom end build and lots of dyno time. :slap:

my bad..i was thinking of wut my car will be putting out, becuz im building my whole engine, and yes it is possible if u know wut ur doing, especially when u build up ur car and everything works together... but it will def. put a good 15 to 20 on the boards... let me just say it's completely noticiable, acceleration is quicker, and overall it's a bad ass job, especially if the person working on ur car has experience and doesn't do a crappy job.

oh ya..by the way, im also gonna customize my cam.... friends of mine customize n e thing i need or want, in fact they just won lowrider of the yr. so these fools will put out better designs then some aftermarket companys, just becuz u do'nt see companys with their private stuff out, doesn't mean it hasn't been done, and another thing to polishing ur intake man, ur car gets louder :o) it's safe doing it, considerations also upgrading your fuel system, to allow the fuel/air to flow better. not really necessary but an idea to add some more flow through the car..
