so guess what my dad had when i was young lad, a 1982 civic hatch, and guess where its at, a buddies backyard collecting dust, its a lil rusty suspensions shot, brakes are rusted solid, interior is fuked, its a good shell tho and i wanna do something with it, the engine bay is literally smaller then my d15b7, so It'all have to be a honda motorcycle engine, my question is does anyone have any info on these suckers? theres no support at all for them, that i can find, and I really think this would be a cool project car, has anyone seen one of these restored?

some one on here a while ago had a b16 swapped into an 83'......too much work if you ask me, never any fun going from carburated to fuel injected, you have to change everything, including the gas tank if my memory serves me right. i have an 81' civic hatch chillen in my driveway right now in perfect (stock) running condition, only had one owner when we bought it, just need a little paint to tidy her up....and an antique car licence plate....lol

thats sweet, as for how much work I totally took that into consideration, and I'm thinking of a complete gutting of the car nada stays and nothing is actually from that model, all newer performance parts, but yeah I'll inspect the car more take some measurments and maybe something will happen

its a pretty good project car, only thing is that.. its ugly -___-
then again if you swap in a dohc motor, itll take alot of work with custom mounts to fabrication.. but a sohc motor would be more easier i would say.. since its alot smaller and might fit the original mounts.. iono just random thoughts.. never seen one of those before, i had to google it haha

Hi, I'm new here. I'm so glad I found this site!

My first car was a 1983 Honda Civic 4dr sedan I got after graduation in 1985. I gave it to my brother when I bought my second car, a 1989 Honda Civic 4dr sedan. He ran it into the ground and I gave him my second Civic and I replaced it with a 1998 Honda CR-V. While hanging out at my brother's house I noticed that he still had the 83 stored/hidden/buried behind his garage. Seeing it, even it it's ratty condition, brought back very good memories soooo I towed the 83 out of my brother's backyard to my house this year in hopes of putting it back on the road for myself, then I could give my daughter the CR-V in a couple of years.

Here's the question. Is it worth my time and money? The interior is dry rotted. The body is rusting in several places where I can see (nothing larger than a silver dollar) I'm sure I'll need EVERYTHING electrical and powertrain wise replaced, but I don't know where to start and don't know what it might cost. (I should have never let that car go)

if your into old fashion cars and rarity.. youll be looking at 20k - 25k just replinishing this car.. it would be nice to see though... although it is ALOT of time, money, and hard work.. unless you have the money with lots of time on your hands, i say go for it.. if not, then just forget about it...

btw, this is an old ass thread -___-

20K-25K? WOW!

That's too bad, I was hoping that it wouldn't go beyond 5K. :(
I guess I'll just junk it then and look for another one or something else (Honda of course) in better shape to piddle with, or maybe just get my daughter a brand new FIT.:(

well, i meant fully restored.. youll be looking at ALOT of money, especially to stock oem. youd have to order new parts that are discontinued and that gets REAL expensive. then if you go the performance route.. itll cost you, not as much, but for the comfort of it how it use to be about 89 years ago.. itll cost you some there..

i personally would just strip it all down, fix all the rusted and broken chassis points, reweld. wash it real nice, find some newer seats from a diff car that you can fabb in (ex. SI seats, would look wierd kinda but its an example), put a newer motor like a b18 or something.. possibly fix all dents and dings on body.. have it repainted. new rims (that look old school), new windshields rear and front,, possibly all the windows.. repair all electrical... and thats about it.. thats like what, nearly 10k in parts if you install most of it yourself. if you let a shop it, they gunna throw a nice labor fee of like 8k for everything hahaah.. anyways..
