Well, posted this a while ago, but didnt get any solid answers. When I posted before I hadnt actually got the seats yet, but now I actually picked em up, so any ideas would be helpful so I know what to rip at this weekend.

I picked up a pair of Recaro SRD copies the other day, but on one of the seats, the backrest is broken. It acts like your always holding the handle to adjust the seat angle. Anyone know if this is somewhat easily fixable and what needs to be done/replaced? Thanks..

I imagine it's repairable. I wouldn't imagine it's much fun to fix, and I'd think you'd need to get special order replacement parts from Recaro.

i know what you mean..the only thing i can think of is getting your tools and taking the seat apart.

hmm..the thing is, im s**t out of seats, lol these are my only seats. So I hate to have to order through recaro knowing that shipping will be a while. If I disable the seat and find out lets say, well ive figured its come down to these two possiblities:

1) the teeth the hold the "angle" in place are broken off
2) the handle is broken somehow

Those are the only two logical solutions, so lets say I find those are my problems, do you guys think thered be any way to fix it from local parts store like homedepot, kragen, autozone or is pretty much gonna have to be special order no matter what?

s**t, b***h. I picked up some Recaro recliner gears last week at Napa .... they're right next to the 710 caps and the muffler bearings.

Trust me... special order is probably the only option. Say it's the gear.... Not only does it have to have X number of teeth, but it has to be X diameter too. And hell, I don't know their design, but it might be only half a circle, not an entire gear.

First... you have to find out what the problem is. Second, figure out your options and order the parts. Third, repair the parts or get them repaired by someone who knows. Seats are not something I would try to mess around with without knowing. This is a safety concern.

Crap.

the Napa here only sells muffler bearings for Yugos and Daihatsus

As far as the original post, you're going to have to do exploratory surgery. It might be something simple like a broken spring that keeps the pin from locking down in the gear. or the pin might just be loose and won't engage the gear

I don't think I've ever seen the gear strip out on a quality seat :what:
