Just purchased a used 99 Civic DX (the spend thrifty Value Package) and the Power Door Locks are not working. I recently purchased a new door panel switch (always thinking the cheap way out), replaced it, and nothing; it still does not work. I have checked the fuses (all of them just to be safe - under the hood and in the car) they are all good - and all have power on both sides.
Since I had no way to test power at the switch, I went and got a low voltage tester at the store to test the wiring at the molex connecter to make sure that there was power to the switch itself. Thinking that somewhere between the fusebox and the switch a wire was nicked/cut or whatever. Well, much to my surprise, when I touched the probe to one of the terminals on the molex connector; the locks 'locked.' And when I touched the probe to the other connector (the one that I think was not the ground wire), they unlocked.
So, if I take a grounded source, say my continuity tester in this example and touch the contacts of the molex connector -- the locks work. Which sort of confuses me, since I don't know what to check next. Pretty sure my next step is taking off the door panel, but, how do I get the door panel OFF without screwing up whatever is holding it on? And, what should I be looking for as to what might be the problem.
Thanks in advance --
