Powerbass Xtreme?

I was out being a nuisance the other day, going from place to place listening to the Focals and the Diamonds...etc...really wanting them but being on a Kenwood/Pioneer budget. I explained that to a rather zealous salesman and he switched over to a set of Powerbass speakers.

I gotta' admit. They sounded pretty good.

Anybody have any experience with them? Are they going to sound great for a week and then s**t the bed? Were his demo units one-off and I get home to find I have glorified Pyramids?

Any input?

I listened to those 3XLs back to back with some Alpine Type Rs and some MB Quarts to Beck's Nausea (Beck songs have a lot of odd sounds in them that cheap speakers won't reproduce well)

MB Quarts still have shrieky metallic highs.

Hard to tell the difference between the Alpines and the Powerbass. Both were pretty clear and accurate. My ears actually preferred the Powerbass a little.

I wanted to hear them vs Focals but those are at CarToys.

I'm going to get them.

We'll see if they crap out in a week or two.

Same company as Memphis Audio....I feel better about my purchase now.
