nothing physically bad would happen to the engine. But if you wany some what easy steering, your going to need to swap out the rack and pinion also. (the part that turns your wheels) there is a differance between one for power steering and one without.

Im interested in this post as well. I just picked up a 95 DX Coupe with a ruined rack, was thinking about just going without PS with the new one.

Just know that without power steering, you are going to feel every bump that your control wheels go over. and I mean every one. Also, if you are at a stop and have to suddenly turn your wheels a different direction, you will have to bull dog the wheel. Now on a happier note, mine feels more direct response than power steering would give you, and it is one less thing to break during a road rally. It's all in your preference, but no, you won't harm your engine if you remove the power steering.

I removed my powersteering a couple months ago and ive had no problems, I actually prefer my car without it.

no power steering = no power steering pump = less resistance on the engine and less rotational force = better gas mileage.
