hey CC again. im currently workin on a built d16 turbo setup. my goal is to hit 300whp. so far the motor has a built head with skunk2 valves, springs, retainers, cam gear, pnp, (no cam yet). and a stock block. is that enough to run 300hp safely or should i take the time to get rods and pistons? also what size turbo should i run? i was told a t3 would be good enough but i wanna turbo that will not blow easily on me. i was kinda thinkin of the ebay t70 or a basic t3/t4.

Don't get an ebay turbo., they tend to blow easily.

yes you need to build the bottom end. d16 rods arent exactly the strongest. i would say some bottom end work is your next step esp since your going for 300 hp. ive always heard and read not to try and push more than around 200hp on stock bottom end for d series engines. you can use vitara pistons if you dont want to send alot on aftermarket ones. as for the turbo, a t70 is WAY too big. a t3/t4 hybrid will be fine

lol you went backwards. You need to build the bottom end or else your going to not last.

For 300whp if you want quick spool then get a 57 trim with .48a/r

or if you want to grow 60 trim .63 a/r...i think...dont go too big

i can tell you do not know what you are doing quite yet....keep researching or else you will kick yourself in the nuts when your s**t blows

o and the bottom end vitaras with eagle rods are the norm for the sub 400whp...there are many other rods to choose too

and t3/t4 is way to vague of a term.........fyi

I didn't know s**t about boosting when I started :what: I just went and did it and learned as I went. I never built my bottom end either and it's been a while since I boosted it. I'm not making 300hp tho, I'm a bit more realistic

exactly....all these people on here are looking at hp as a number on the screen: who ever has the biggest number wins

it doesnt work that way guys......

i admit i left out some details. i bought my D motor for fairly cheap and the previous owner built the head and sold me the entire swap before he could build the bottom. he already hit 200whp with the swap.i did most of my research and for me 300 is realistic after seeing cars on the other forums. my plans for the bottom end were the vitara+eagle setup. its just that i need more info about turbo's. idk anything about trim, a/r, and sizes. and the car the swap is going into is for a project car, it wont be driven daily but i still want reliability

300 isnt realistic. sure you can get to 300 but it wont last long with a stock bottom end. now 300on a bseries is another story. but 300 on a D with a stock bottom end is no good unless you really want to buy a new block cuz you threw a rod through it

he said that he's going with eagle rods and vitara pistons. I don't think it will last like that anyway.

If you are shooting for 300hp then you might want to start researching on what kind of suspension you will be running. btw, that 300hp won't be s**t without slicks.

eagle rods, vitara pistons, arp head studs, and a good headgasket and you should be good
