Problem with Car CD player- HELP!

Ok, so a couple days ago I burnt a cd. Fine, just like any other cd. I listen to it in the car a few times, it works fine, works fine elsewhere too.

So last night, I'm driving along, and it starts skipping parts of the song. So what? I take it out, clean the cd off a bit (wasn't all that dirty, as it was a brand new cd). I put it back in, go on my way, works. Starts doing it again, so I once again, take it out and clean it again. But this time ejects the cd.

So i get home. Forget about it. I get into my car last night before I go out. And I happen to look at the cd player display on my car. It says "disk" then makes a faint noise like its going to start reading the cd and play it. No, it just ejects it. I try putting it back in. Same thing. So I try several other burnt cds. Same case. Then I try 3 store bought cds. The exact same thing.

At this point, I'm kinda frustrated, but not too much I can do till the stores are open, so I just turn the radio on. So just now, on my lunch, I went and bought an auto-cd player cleaner (a maxell... all they had there), throw it into the cd player, does the EXACT SAME THING as a normal cd.

This is a factory cd player, 2001 civic, never had any problems what-so ever before last night.

Any suggestions as to what I can try or what it could be/could be causing the issue?

try cleaning the lens, usually the canned air from Radio Shack or somewhere works best for car cdplayers

if its not that, it might be time to upgrade =)

It might be the lens, but usually you need to regrease the slide bar. The peice that the lens moves on. The grease dries up and cant move any more
