Problem with my 98 OEM alarm/keyless entry

I have a Canadian 98 Si that came with a keyless entry with alarm system.
I bought the car used however I can only presume that the alarm is OEM as it uses the same keyfob.
On the right of the power mirror control is a red LED that used to flash when the keyless entry was used to lock the car. As I said it used to, the LED is constantly on now, the alarm (read car horn) does not trigger or is not set off when the key is used to open the door, however when I press the keyless entry on the keyfob the alarm beeps 10 times and the doors do not lock or unlock.

I still have my factory stereo for those asking. I have not changed anything in the car that would deal with the electrical system. One day the keyless entry/alarm worked, the next day it didn't.

Has anyone heard of this issue? Any ideas of what could be wrong or how to fix the issue?

I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I need to get myself a key fob and reinstall my stock radio so that I can have it back.

I have found half of the problems,
There is a toggle switch with a tiny red button by the drivers left foot rest.
Moving the toggle to the other position turns the 10 beeps off and allows the key fob to unlock/lock the doors now.
My alarm light is still on solid, it used to blink, but at least the keyless entry works.

Anyone know what the button, on the floor does?

That button is probably the valet switch, its so you can disarm the alarm manually in case you lose the fob.

Yeah but it won't be until this evening or later. I am having other issues with my car, must be electrical.
When I get a chance I will post a picture.

Thats going to be your valet switch, it probably all got reset, you will need your manual to reset the alarm.

Its a pain in the ass im sure. ;D

When my factory keyless acts up, its because the battery isnt on tight.

I seriously have to stick a quarter in that little groove and turn it as tight as possible, and suddenly the thing works like its brand new.

like the battery in the remote and you mean re-program as in option + Lock>? Cause the remote works but you have to be right next to do for it to work never was like this till i put aftermarket stereo in. The remotes we replaced both remote batteries to.

No Idea dude :(

I was just pointing out that on both my key fobs I have to tighten the battery on VERY tightly or they only work spuratically.. but they should work from atleast like 100 feet away

Sounds like just a battery connection problem in the remote.
