so heres the deal. :[
my car got broken into a few weeks ago. they bashed my passenger side window in, and took the flaceplate of my headunit. but they could not take the headunit out. they went screwdriver crazy
and stabbed every crack and hole they could find to try to yank it out. and they still failed.
so days later, i had time and i carefully took the unit out. cutting all the wires and such that were connecting the headunit in. when i tried to put my old one in, the speakers on the left side of my car( front and rear) would produce a cackling noise that was unbearable.so i disconnected the black cable that connected to the back of the headunit and the black wire touched the metal bracket and it let out a spark! so now the headunit does not power on. i bought a new kenwood headunit. and when i tried to connect it, it also did not power on. i checked the radio fuse under my steering wheel and it's still okay. so i'm wondering wtf is wrong! :( also, my clock starts at 1:00 everytime i start my car. so it lost it's memory? :(
any help guyss? i really want this headunit to work! any advice?!

Replace the fuse anyway. It may look ok, but still could be bad. Also check underhood fuse box.

when checking under the hood, which fuse do i look for? i see nothing that relates to the radio and such.
i drive a 1994 civic ex coupe by the way. so you're saying replace the fuses regardless?

There should be a fuse under the hood for it...I think I had to do that with mine...

the question is, which fuse would it be? all i saw on the diagram were fuses for headlights, tail lights, hazard lights, backing up lights, and such. :(

that kind of helped me on the specifications of each fuse. but one thing that i dont understand is my clock. how it still works. but it keeps starting at 1:00 everytime i turn on and off my car. i guess when im off work ill try replacing the fuse that is for my radio..even though it looks good. i'll give it a shot.

Sounds to me like there is a short somewhere. Crackling usually means that IMO
