well i jus kinda need help figuring out what it wrong with the car. somedays it will spit and sputter and not have much power. well it jus keeps stalling on me. i will be going and it will like sputter once and then stall and then i wont be able to start it up.. it will usually take 15-20 tries and then it starts but wont really go to far without stalling out.. it has good times and bad.. sometimes just as it is about to stall i can put in the clutch and give it a little gas in order to keep it running. i would appreciate any help

Here where to start:

-Plugs, wires, cap, and rotor

-Mechanical timing

-CEL codes

yea i still have to check cap and rotor but plugs are good, and how would i go about checking the timing
alright there are three codes on the ecu. the ecu is from an 89 integra i believe, it also has the d16 engine..but the codes i am gettin from the ecu are 2 long 3 short and 9 short. i am hoping the timing is jus off and that i dont have to buy a costly sensor
and just today on my way home from school(about a mile and a half away) i noticed the rpm guage was not working but when i was almost home it kicked on. idk maybe a loose wire?

Never ignore CEL codes.

You seem to have codes 20 (ELD), 3 (MAP sensor), and 9 (Cyl 1 position sensor). The last two codes will make the engine run like crap. Check the wiring for both sensors.

yea the cyp sensor has a wiring problem it has the red one not going to anything and i think the yellow is wired wrong, any chance of a diagram for that..the car seemed to be running pretty good when i first bought it.. it needed to have the head gasket replaced that is the only reason i suggested the timing.
the idle has been going up and down at first...but it had just recently began bleeping code 3

The stock CYL sensor for an 89 hatch has Blu/Grn and Blu/Yel wires. I can't say for the hybrid swap you have.

If the MAP sensor wires are fine, then try cleaning it with some carburetor cleaner.

yea i will try that, but i mean it is a d16zc and there are plently of them and yea the yellow wire is connected both Blu/Grn and Blu/Yel wires.so i think there is a wiring problem there...

If the Blu/Grn and Blu/Yel wires for the CYL sensor are connected and fine, then the sensor itself may be bad. Measure its resistance.

is there any way i can test to see if the map sensor is out?? cause i believe that could be the uderlying cause of the stalling, it would buck or hesitiate once and then stall and somtimes backfire
