My wife picked up a 1998 Civic LX sedan for mad cheap a few months ago. The guy we got it from totally beat the s**t ouf of the car. It has 178xxx miles on it, and had 1/2 a front bumper. The passenger side rear 1/4 panel is all smashed in from him side swiping a light pole, and it has little annoying dents all over it. We're thinking about trading it for a 96 Civic hatch, so the guy thats looking at the car said he'd like the bodywork done. Since i planned on repainting it Kiwi Green (off the new Honda Elements), I decided to do the bodywork on it. So heres the progress so far. Ive done about 1-2 hours of work on it.

so far so good bro. Use a sanding block and a long sanding block for larger, flat/curved area's to make sure you got the body lines right.

:thumbs up

good progress. but i have to give mad props for u diy'ers. i had a little experience with bodywork and it is not for impatient people. it takes a lot of time and dedication along with lots and lots of practice just to do an alright job.

Working at a Honda dealership, I get to see ALL the OEM colors. As soon as I saw that color, I fell in love with it. Same with the Green Tea on the new 07's CR-V's.

I love doing my own work. That way once Im done, I can sit back and say I did that....plus its ALOT cheaper to do it yourself.

i hope you dont get rings, you burned the s**t out of that fender/hood.

Usually causes rings in the paint.

Good luck man!
Yea, the fender was a b***h to sand down. I think alot of the "burn" marks are just left over clearcoat. Before I prime it all, Im gonna go thru and re-sand everything by hand. I really dont care much about the hood. Im gonna be replacing it w/a CF one eventually (prolly spring time).

I got the whole passenger side sanded down. Should have pics up soon.

what grit did you use?

they make a progressive step dry finishing paper for the DA for scuffing purposes on blend panels, etc. etc.

Id find some of that, and since its black you could use 600, but i personally prefer 800

The rings are through the first layer of paint, i can see that lol, if you see the powder from the sanding process turn to a color, stop, you've gone to far lol.

Remember, go with the body lines, front to back, and dont try to hit EVERY little peice, you can always finish by hand
