psi and painting intercooler ?

i have two questions the first one is i am buying a turbo from fasterimage and i dont know how much boost to run on a stock motor. so whats my best way to go with it?
second is that i want to paint the intercooler black so what paint is the best to use that will not hurt it if any paint is safe to use?

how much boost? doesnt matter, psi is an arbitrary value. base your setup on a power goal

IC paint? the cheapest flat black s**t you can buy, and only do a LIGHT coat as to not affect efficiency

they also sell Radiator Black paint, said to not gum and clog up the passages, im guessign it shoudl work good on ICs becouse radiators are the same design

set your goal for hp not psi.....

but for a stock motor you can run up to 11 psi(bc thats what the stock MAP can tune up to) safely with a GOOD tune......with about 200-230 hp....

i myself will be pushing 10 psi on a stock dohc zc.....hoping to make around 230hp.....

you should set it for around 350hp....with 20 psi

you should anodize intercoolers, not paint them.


you need to find out what size/kind the turbo is and what motor/mods you are using it on. psi is irrelevant

jrc makes anodized black fmic but he's on vacation still so good luck trying to get one!
