just curious if that was hard to do? is it possible to have it replace the function of turning the key to start and just have the button to use? just something to do with my time.....

Basically, you're saying you want to make it easier for people to steal your car?

yes a push button start elimintaes using the key to start the car. but you still need the key. or else youll be traveling in a straight line and cannot turn and wont have a radio.

well can you just wire the button to the last switch on the key turn so when you turn the key to acc. you just use the push button to start?

thats the point. you turn the car "on" with the key. and push the button to start. otherwise if you wire it like you just said as soon as you release the button the car will die. an S2000 still has a key. it just doesnt use it to start the car. just to turn it on.

i think that is what he meant ^^^^

yes u can do a push button start. drag cars have em most of the time.

just like a key when u turn the car it clicks once then twice and the third chokes the car (turns it on) and then return back to the second switch, does not stay in the third position.

so what snake_shit is saying that yes u can have a push start but u will still have to use the key, the will have to be turned to the second switch, and then the button just chokes the car.

so basicaly u will have to do some wiring for something that does not do a whole lot...

keys ftw

yea the buton really is only 3 wires. a ground and 2 power. one power goes to the battery. the other power goes to the starter solenoid. theres a little wire on the solenoid that acivates it. in older cars if you cross that terminal with the huge power wire there it will crank the car. sometimes todays cars are designed different. but all the same basic setup. so if you connect one wire to the one on the starter. then the power wire to the battery. ground it. push the button and the car will crank. no matter what. you can cross them with a screw driver if you want to test it. i had to start the boat like that a few weeks ago.

i added a push button to my first gen rex si, (that was part of a remote start alarm as) that still needed the key. just some food for thought.

+2, to me the push start is kind of pointless.
I agree, but most JDM parts (e.g. that clock) and a lot of the stuff worhiped on these forums are pretty pointless, but they're cool, unique, and just make us feel good to have it. I think a push button would be pretty badass, but I wouldn't go great lengths to have one. Many new cars have immobilizers instead of keys so when you walk into the proximity, it unlocks the entire car including the engine so all you have to do is push the start button to fire up the engine. THEN they're useful ;)

just my thoughts.

i disagree for the same reason i dislike jdm clusters.. i LOVE jdm s**t.. but all of my jdm s**t works as well or better than my usdm s**t.. the reason i dont get a jdm cluster.. is because it makes it harder to watch my speed.. the reason i dont get a push buttom start.. is it makes it harder to start the car.. same logic.. lol my jdm road flare is pretty pointless, but it does not hinder the operation of my car..
