What's up Civic Nation,

I am plan on having the Python 991 car alarm installed in my girl's 2000 EX and am confused whether or not she would need a transponder bypass since the alarm has remote start. I have called around a few shops and got mixed messages, a few said that I would need a bypass and some said that I wouldn't need one. Can you guys help me out on this? Do I need a bypass for her car or not?

Thanks in advance!! =)

I'm pretty sure off the top of my head that you do need one. To check if you do just start the car and if you see a green key light up on the cluster while starting then you do need it. You can also take a few layers of foil and wrap it around the head of the key and try to start it. If it doesn't start then you do need one.

Thanks guys, got the alarm installed and it did not need a bypass. The alarm rocks! It's amazing how often your car gets messed with during the night. Maybe from the neighberhood cats though.

It really shouldn't go off that often unless a sensor is too sensitive or the alarm is falsing. If it continues to do that you may want to take it back to the installer and have it readjusted.
