hey guys, i'm putting together a turbo kit for my civic. i was just wondering if my ECU will throw a check engine light if i bolt on the turbo or do i need to put another ECU in (if so, which ECU do i need) ? i'm planning to boost bout 14psi on my d16y7 until i finish building my lsvtec (also will be boosting this motor too, with same turbo). any though or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

you will need a chipped ECU to tune it.

run hondata s300, make sure you pick a ecu supported by any tuning you get, on the cheep safc and map bypass valve, fmu is also cheep method.

dont go cheep tuning.

cheep cheep says the bird. cheap says the honda builder ;) ;)

you can use a chipped p28 for both applications (knock sensor bypass / y7 vtec engage at 10k rpm aka disabled)

to use the same turbo, you will want something a little larger such as a 14b or 16g turbo.. which I wouldnt recommend running 14 pounds on the y7 with. Nor do I recommend boosting hybrid vtec systems as they are notoriously unreliable WITHOUT boost... and with the extra stress of boost they are exponentially more likely to grenade
