Ok quick run down, I acquired this car with a d15b non vtec block and a d16y7 head.

We all know stock motor in this car is the y8, so this was a step down, I assume old setup was blown and previous owner was on really tight budget..

Anyway car is running stock p2p ecu, which looks for vtec, so of course its throwing the p1259 code, and at 5500 my engine won't rev past.. My question is this, can I make my p2p stop looking for vtec altogether, or can i directly swap in either a p06 or p2e and have my car work fine? So far the only thing I've seen that I'd have to do swapping ecus is convert iacv from a 3 to 2 wire.

I'm new to this, have only owned this car for less than a week, thanks for the help

A 99-00 Civic P2E ECU that matches your transmission (auto or manual) is probably the best solution.
