question what is it when.....

i have a stupid question i have a manual gsr . what is it when u have to turn on your headlights or something else in your car to start it (security feature) and can u use the cruise control button to do that but without having to lose the cruise control?

man, i havnt seen those in awhile.. i use to see those tricks done on a bunch of toyota cars when i use to work at a toyota dealership. the first time i was stuck and spend hella time trying to figure out how to start the car. one of my co worker told me i had to turn on the headlights to start the car.. i always wonder what they use to do it.. probably a relay or something.
