Hey all, I'm a noob when it comes to forced induction, but have been searching for quite some time. I just need to be pointed in the right direciton.
I plan to build my d series to run a 11 sec pass in the 1/4 mile . Horsepower wise i'm shooting for 400-450whp. I won't be sleeving the block, as i don't think it'll need it. So heres my question. I'm stuck between which motor i should run. The y8 would be fun, but so is the z6. My car is a 1998 and obd2, so if i use the z6, will i have to get a jumper harness to run obd1? What else would i need to use the z6 motor in my obd2 car? Or would i just be better off running my y8? Tuning wise i think the obd1 motor would be easier to work with.
Next question; since the car isn't going to be a dedicated track car, and i plan to street drive the car too, what pistons should i run? Vitara's would net me too low of a compression ratio for my build, since i want to have a decent spool time, and keep the lag to a minimum. Which brings me to the last question. Will a t3/t4 57 trim bring me my goal of 450whp? or should i look for something bigger?
While we're on the subject, is it possible to delete ac, but keep power steering? Reason being is that my car will be driven on the street etc, so it would be nice to keep it, Does anybody make a turbo kit that would allow me to do this?
Thanks for taking the time to help a noob out!
