Questions on Security

Well I had read somewhere that a guy had his 99 Civic stolen from his drive way. He had a Alarm, Fuel Cut off switch, ECU take out of the car, and main relay pulled. Car was still stolen. I believe anything is possible, and I don't expect anyone here to be experts a thievery. I know thieves can bypass alarms, eaisly, but how can they bypass the fuel cut off? Won't the car not start if the ECU is pulled? Or if the main relay was pulled? I kinda think its an insurance fraud job or someone who knew the guy. I just don't understand how a car can start without an ECU. Can anyone explain? I just want to know for my own security that way I can try to improve on what I can do so my car is not the next one to end up missing, becuase its not fun, I had one gone before.

Your questions are always about theft and recovery. Are you or planning or have already stolen a car?

It could be insurance fraud. Would you or a friend would like to learn more about insurance fraud and what shops in california commit this crime?

you can steal any car with a flatbed, and without starting it. Its unfortunate that some people would go through so much to take from another.

I always felt that if they need to go to that much trouble to take my car, fine, I'll collect the insurance

I garantee u its a towing by a flatbed there is no way that anyone could jack a car like that believe me I know I know every thing about car thief and insurance fraud I had my share when I was young now I work with the insurance for doing investigation work. according to the guy saying that the take out the ecu, relay, and cut main fuel I bet u he is bullshiting. there is noone go to the extreme of doing that. the most anyone would do is make a cut off switch for the distributor. and an advice when u get your alarm install make sure u have a hood pin and for the power wire make sure its from the inside not out under the hook

get a good pager alarm, autolock, get a backup battery, get a relay for the fuel pump, and a back up siren(if theives cut the siren wires the siren will still go off)
