this is kinda an off question, but i cant decide!

i currently have a pair of 12" MTX subs in a sealed box, and a 1000 watt amp. i want half of the 75% of my trunk they take up, back. it would be great to have more room in the trunk. i could trade them for a 15" kicker L5, in a ported box and keep my 1000 watt amp. who thinks its a good trade? i kinda like my pair of 12's. just want some opinions.

honestly mtx is good and all but kicker is alot better. trust me i know as i have my own little shop and would choose the kicker over mtx anyday. so imo go with the kicker because in the right box if you have one custom built and tuned to the kickers specs it will sound just as good as the mtxs do

Id go with old school mtx or old school RF over kicker, but thats just me. Kicker is good for a budget and compared tomost these days, but old school is where its at.

I am with him^^

Why not do 1 12? Do you just ride around to set off car alarms or do you care about sound quality? When you have too much bass and all you here is boom boom boom there isnt much quality there to begin with. Do one 12" with a good set of speakers up front and you'll have great sound and your trunk back.

I hate subs and airride all together I had no trunk space at all.

that will depend on what type of sound system you are looking for.....

if you want high SPL go for the 15' but you will sacrifice sound quality, because that sub is to big and will not respond to all frequency specially fro rock music but you will love the deep bass....

and the MTX will have more sound quality......

but its up to you.....

i personally dont like Kickers...mtx makes decent subs...one Alpine Type R in a ported box sounds like 2 12s thats what i have in my car...just my 2 cents

W R O N G

sub size does not determine frequency response.

enclosure does...

+1 more space=more bass

I use a single 10 with a 300:1 kicker amp and i have to turn the bass down here and there.. then again, i like to hear the music sound good in my car not across the street.

dude, if you listen to rap/hip hop. Kicker hands down.
with the right ported box, and the right amp, kicker is best.
i had 2 10' mtx sledgehammers, then got 2 12's mtx thunder series, then a single 12 inch kicker L5.
i blew my mtxs over and over, this kicker is stronger, louder and wont die! sounds amazing too

I've been rockin Kickers since 1990!!! First started out with two Kicker Competition 15's, pushed with a RF Punch 45!!! s**t hit hard as hell!! MTX was always a joke back then, and still is! Get yourself a Kicker 10 and a RF amp and be done!!!

i love my mtx... but the box really is as important as the subs... with proper airspace on either of them you'll sound good... but i'd go to only one twelve...
