i was just wondering if 6th generation civics have or will have that same rust problem as 5th generation civics? i think one of the main reasons 5th generation civics rusted was because their was a vent only on one side of the 1/4 panel, (their where a few more that i dont remmber). did honda fix those problems?

preventive maintenance will solve all problems. Hit the fender wells with some rubber coating from a spray can. Make sure to cover up any suspension/brake components you do not want black.

um cars rust depending on how much they're exposed to moisture. you live you live in chicago so yes your civic will get rust ;)

if preventitive measures aren't taken like suggested

There are a lot of factors that can effect a car's body rusting. Not just the way the car was designed / engineered.

My car is driven all year every year since it was bought back in 99/00 and there are only a few rust spots on it (about half the size of ritalin pills -or- "O"...not even).
