Quick question for those who deleted/removed their AC system (98 civic lx)

Hey guys, last time I did my timing belt service I cut the AC belt because my AC just didn't work. By the time I had put everything back together and ran the car I noticed the pulley on the compressor has a bad bearing. The bearing wobbles and makes this clanking noise thats starting to drive me nuts. I would like to remove the whole system; lines, compressor, fan and ac radiator but some of the stuff I saw said that I'd need to cut the power to the controls on the dash for the defrost and what not. Ideally I would like to keep heat and defrost options, is that possible at all? Or could I just remove the compressor and call it a day?

I kept heat and rear defrost. Just gotta be mindful of the connections that normally run to the AC unit.

Removing the a/c should not affect heat at all, there separate systems that only combine in the vents, also don't worry about removing any of the electrical a/c components, just remove the condenser, compressor and a/c lines, cap them off at the firewall and it's done. Oh and the evap canister

Make sure you evacuate the system before pulling the compressor.

No need to change any wiring, just evacuate the system and remove all the components. Your rear defrost and air distribution will all stay the same.

Thank you very much fellas answered my question completely. I'm not worried about the evacuation, my coworker does HVAC on the side and he said he can vacuum the gas out of the system when I'm ready to do it all.
