R.I.P Scott Kalitta

i dont know how many of you watch drag racing, but today a legend was tragically killed. Scott Kalitta died during the final rounds of qualifying when his car blew up and crashed into a wall in the shut down lane. You will be forever remembered as a legend in NHRA racing history scott. R.I.P

wow thats a nuts crash, never seen something like that before. I always thought it was just a sand pit at the end to slow them down if they do happen to exceed the track...not a f**king wall

Englishtown has the shortest shut down lane of any of the tracks that they go to. Its both sad and upsetting to think that a leged was lost and the fact that those cars are doing 300mph and they dont extend the shut down areas everywhere.

I think he was already dead by then. B/c if he was still alive, Im sure he would of deployed his parachute and somehow tried to stop it from hitting a wall at 300mph. When the car caught fire, something probably flew up and hit him, killing him then. All just my opinion tho. Either way, its sad to see something like this happen.

If you watch closer after the first explosion the chutes are out but there isnt anything left of them. If he was alive he was just along for the ride at that point
