Hi there. I'm new and have never done this before. I have 99 Honda civic dx with 173,000 miles. No modifications really except for an aem filter, strut bar and 17" rims. Not lowered. I am the original owner. She started leaking power steering fluid and one mechanic told me that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. I took it to a different mechanic who replaced the part and did the alignment. When I was driving away the alignment was off dramatically. He said he did it when I called him to ask then why do I have to turn my steering wheel 30 degrees right for it to go straight. He tries to tell me because of my tires. Told him they are new. Then he says because other parts need to be replaced because the rack & pinion is newer and those are old, not specific to which parts he was referring to. I told him I brought the car to him with impeccable steering and I receive one that is a danger to drive. What do you think is really going on? Is he being dishonest or is their truth to this?
