I purchased a radar detector today and wanted to hardwire it into my 94 civic ex, i figured after i cut an old adapter i had, ran a ground, and ran the hot to the 15a cig lighter/radio fuse it would work, but it doesn't come on, im using and old junkie radar detector i had lying around to test before i hook it into my real one, but it just doesnt come on, and its not the old detector b/c i can hook it up to the cig plug, and it comes on.. any ideas or what I should hook it too?? thanks

I hard wired my detector. I bought the wire with the fuse from www.cobra.com. Although purchased from Cobra, I use a Uniden detector and it works fine. I power it from the fuse box. I found the fuse that is connected to my accessories (I believe slot 15) and tested for a ground location. Worked great for me and turns on/off when the car is on/off.

BTW, I mounted my detector right above the rear view mirror, ran the wire along the roof, down the A pillar and into the fuse box. EZ.

check your ground
