hey ok i got my radar its a whistler 1730....i first got it and put it on my moms van...we took about a 20 mile drive and it did what it was supposed to....it never went off until we hit a cop.......ok THEN i put it in my car......not a good ending......now it beeps constantly maybe it wont go off for like 5 secs...then go back off......its really annoying.......i didnt have a ciggarette lighter so i hooked it up to the fuse and then to a ground.....could the ground or anything be messing it up...i set put the wire to the ciggarette lighter......is there maybe a reset botton?? idk

same thing happened to me. i had a Valentine 1 which retails for $400.00.
i put it in my moms beemer, and it works just fine. but my civ, which got stolen on friday for just my taillights, i had to wire it to my fuse box and ground. and it goes off every freakin automatic door that has a sensor, you just gotta mute it or put it on city, where it kinda rejects the stupid waves like X band. K and KA and laser and some other crap are the bad boys you dont wanna go near.
if anyone needs a radar detector, i have a valentine one that works perfectly, but i only have the fuse box and ground set up, but its really easy set up, and you can hide it in your windshield trim, so its simple.
$40 for the detector and fuse box set up. local in modesto, or central valley california.

well even on city it still goes off.........idk if he has to do with my engine.......because it was swapped out b4 i got the car and maybe he wired it wrong.....or somethen.......but yes even in city it still does it.....idk im going to try it in the van again and see if it works
well yep in the van it still works perfect.....so i changed the grounds in my car of the cigarette light......didnt help.....now it just made it worse or somethen........idk POS!!!!!!
get rid of it and get a cobra radar detector. by buddy has one and it works awesome and none of that crap.
