Radio Install 97 civic

Hello everyone.

Ive been trying to install a new head unit in my 97 civic there was a previous aftermarket one in there so I had to take that one out. They also kept the OEM Radio to keep the remote entry working.

The problem I am running into Is my Yellow Memory Wire (Ignition Wire) Isnt Getting any power. I cant find any fuses that are blown. Im thinking about purchasing a new harness. If I am Correct Yellow goes to Yellow and Red to Red.

I had to splice the yellow into the cig lighter for the time being. Im thinking about purchasing this new harness. Will it work?

I wouldn't trust that the one color goes to the same color. You have to account for the previous installer possibly changing things. I would use a tester and find out what wire going to the stock harness gets a constant power. That is all you need to do. No need to buy a whole new harness just for one wrong wire.

If needed you can use another source as long as it is constant power. If the cig lighter is constant and is fused, I don't see a problem with staying on that one.

Thanks for the response. But I wonder why the Yellow Memory Wire from the Factory Harness Isnt getting power. Is there a fuse that that would be on? A specific one.

Could be a number of things. Wire could have lost connection, fuse could be blown, previous installer could have aborted it, fuse could have failed and the wire could have melted, etc. The possibilities are endless.

I am not sure the factory head unit power wire was yellow. I could be wrong though. Honda does some crazy things with their wires. For instance the blinker wire is routed through the hazard switch. If the hazard switch goes out the regular blinkers won't work.
