Radio Install ?'s

I just bought a new Alpine CD/MP3 player to go in my hatch and bestbuy didn't have an install kit for it. SoundAdvice said they had 2 listed for it but didn't have any instock so they called Circuit City and they didn't have any. The guy at SoundAdvice talked to one of his install guys and they said that an install kit wasn't needed for my car.

Is that correct? The stock radio looks a lil bit bigger than a single din.

Uhh DIN is the standard man... there arent many manufacturers that stray from that (Fords old Taurus with that nappy oval radio is the only I can think of)

You can try actually INSTALLING it and find out. If not buy one. You may only need a faceplate to go around the edges so it looks clean is all. Maybe some wiring in the back instead of a clip. good luck!

actually there are alot of stock radios that are not single din thats why they sell install kits. Hell GM even has a radio that is inbetween single and double din.

I've installed tons of systems and in 90% of the cars an install kit was needed. I guess I'll take the stock radio out and see how it fits I just wanted to know if an install kit was needed before I go through the trouble.

They DO sell an install kit, which leads me to believe it is needed but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Yea I got it installed today...the bezel around the stock radio came off and the Alpine mounted in it. The way it was though made it look like the radio and bezel were one piece.
