radio problems in 00 coupe

i went to hook up the radio in my whip today and now i have a problem........my radio is getting power because it will eject the cd thats in the radio but the face plate wont light up but when i tested it on the car battery it lights up fine....whats going on?.i think it might be my switch wire but not sure.....any help would be awesome cuz i need my radio and system back

sounds like a bad connection somewhere along the way. voltmeter time?

any chance that radio has 2 powers or 2 grounds and you only have 1 hooked up. or you dont have a good ground. or your fuse it blown.

This is what I would check first. Three different fuses protect the radio:

10A dash fuse 28
7.5A dash fuse 30
7.5A hood fuse 47

Also check that the black ground wire in the radio connector has proper continuity to body ground.

Most aftermarket radios have 2 power, Constant (for memory), which is the yellow wire, and switched, which makes it turn on when the ignition is in the accessory or run position, which is the red wire.

If you're using a harness kit, it should be the red wire that you forgot to connect.
If not, its the yellow with red stripe wire.

and the wiring harness that plugs into the factory radio plug. i love those things. makes it so much easier.
