Problem is, my car has started to overheat twice in the past month. The first time it happened after I was getting on it a little. I figured I had just heated up the motor from holding my gears longer than normal cause I stopped when the needle got close to red area, turned off the car, then started it up and the needle went back to normal at halfway point. So I forgot about it and it didn't do it again until yesterday. Yesterday it happened after I had to engine brake in 3rd then 2nd gears to stop quick at a light that turned yellow. Again, I stopped when the needle got closer and closer to the red zone and shut it off. Waited a couple minutes, turned it back on and it went back to normal just like the first time. I'm thinking thermostat needs replacing or I heard from a mechanic friend that it could be a fan relay? any input is appreciated
