what ever happened to racing and just the love of the sport, anymore there is always some ignorant fool trying to start s**t, i watch those videos on youtube with civic vs... mustang vs.... what have you, you have the same outcome every time.... trash talking..... a mustang beats a civic, no one pays attention that the civic ran 12 seconds, which, call me crazy but i think thats pretty freakin respectable. but poeple instantly hit the @sshole button with saying "that peice of jap crap got pwnd" ....i drive a honda but i love cars in general be it mustangs camaros, a souped up gremlin, whatever.... im not all gung ho honda and everything else is crap. i dunno, its kinda makes me sad that there is no automotive comradeship anymore, just because i like your car doesnt mean you have to like mine and just because you like mine doesnt mean i have to like yours but im not gunna start or talk s**t to you because i can respect the effort you have put into the car to make it your own, thats what counts........ maybe everyone can just hug it out..... lol....

Its called ignorance. Dont get me wrong, you find that kind of ignorance in most car groups, except for some of the older domestic guys. But the bottom line is, Mustang's and Camaro's were built to go fast in a straight line, Civic's were built to be reliable, fuel efficient cars. So in a straight line, dollar for dollar, a Muscle car is going to win...unless you experience some SERIOUS driver error. Yes, a Civic that runs 12s is impressive, but that is circumstantial to the fact that its an economy car. If you were simply talking about "a car" running 12s, its not terribly impressive. For the money it costs to build a Civic to run 12s, I could build a Camaro to run 10s, maybe high 9s. Bottom line is, you cant really consider the fact that its a Civic in a drag race, drag racing is drag racing. Whoever runs the faster time without defaulting wins the race...period.

Yes.. mustang guys are bad... but civic guys are equally as bad. I'm pretty sure the "ricer fly-by" was invented by civic owners. I don't think that there was ever really a general camaraderie among car guys in the history of automobiles. Men have a primal urge to prove that their s**t is better than that other guy's s**t. To get all biological, it's a trait that probably evolved to display one's strengths in order to impress mates. Whatever the reason, we like to have pissing contests (whether we resist the urge or give into it) and this preference is no different in the car world. Yes, I personally support a more civilized, "I respect your s**t and I hope you respect mine" and attempt not to give into the urge of saying "your s**t's weak... s**t'S WEAK!", but god knows in the back of my mind I'm walking away thinking "yea... nice car... too bad he's got those wal-mart special subwoofers."

It sucks, but I honestly believe it's inherently built in us to desire to prove that ours is better. It's simply a matter of whether or not we have the decency and willpower to fight that desire.

This has been around since the beginning of racing. It is nothing new. I don't know why it is just affecting you now. In fact, I know old domestic guys that are really bad with the trash talking. Ford vs Mopar vs Chevy. Domestic vs Import. Harley vs Sportbike. It is all over the board and always will be as long as money, adrenaline, and speed are involved.
