Ok, to start off, I have a 2000 4 door sedan Civic LX. I'm currently re-doing the interior over to black. Im painting all the plastic peices, and re-aplostering anything thats vynal (the doors, and the dashboard). I want to make the fabric on the doors, the SAME color as my car (Iced Teal). I have the door panel off of the actual door, and got the actual vynal skin off of the door. The fabric is just glued onto the vynal. I was planning on finding fabric thats the same color as my car, but since my car is such an off/rare color, I cant find any fabric to match. Now, should I just get some white fabric, paint it to match the car (using actual car paint), or should I do some fiberglassing? Now, this is JUST going to be where the fabric is on the door panels. If anyone has any idea's, please lemme know. :thumbs up

Cliff notes:
- Re-doing my interior black *instead of grey*
- Trying to get the fabric on the door panels to match the color of the car
- Cant find any fabric that matches my car
- Anyone have any ideas how to color match it? (IE: fiberglass)

I think if you made some fiberglass panels where the cloth was...that you'd be able to color match perfectly cuz then you can just paint it.....you'd have a lil bit of a show car interior but that could have tons of potential.

Would I have to fiberglass ONTOP of the vynal? Im guessing yes, b/c I'd need the door panel itself to form it.....

PM CivicEX13 and ask him what he's using, he has some dye made by Dupont or something made specifically for interior vinyl/plastic

first off, yes if your going to dye your interior, PM CivicEX13. His dash is coming out great.

but if your going to fiberglass, you aren't going to want to dye. if you decide to fiberglass, go get paint and have it sprayed and then clear coated. if your going to fiberglass, make sure it's done right. fiberglassing isn't hard but ti does take time and sanding.

your other option would be to have it re-wrapped.

i'm picking my car up on Sunday, I'll show you some of my pictures. I had the front 6.5 speakers fiberglassed and the door inserts re-wrapped in red suede. needless to say this might be more then you want, but it might give you some ideas. not to mention I had the rear cargo cover re-wrapped and the trunk done.

Im not fiberglassing the WHOLE interior/dash. JUST the fabric on the door panels (NOT the grey vynal, the soft, fuzzy fabric). Im re-wraping all the gray vynal with black vynal, instead of dying it. I know dying it might be easier, but I think it'll look better re-wraped in black vynal.

I know you guys can read...c'mon.

I thought you had mentioned fiberglassing the arm rest. I'm actually picking my car up in a few hours, so check back for this thread for some pictures =)

Im just fiberglassing the fabric part on the door panel, so it'll be easier to color match it to the color of the car.

Okay here you go. Here's my new door panel. Since that's what your interested in. Custom fiberglassed 6.5 door pod speaker. Door insert re-wrapped in red suede. Now, understand that this is a SHOW car that's why it has the glass and extensive work (not JDM but I thought I'd share).

Here are the pictures.

note: last picture is to show the rear deck lid with the JL Audio logo and the rear fiberglassed pods as well.

Not sure if your looking to do anything like that, but I just thought I'd share =)=)=)

Looks good bro. But see, with the coupes, the fabric part comes apart from the rest of the door panel (I THINK.) The sedans, the fabric is just glued onto the vynal skin. So it makes it abit harder. Thats why Im looking at fiberglassing.

Interior looks good tho man. :thumbs up
