rear Audio trouble

i have a 00 civic and just got these speak in this link . i am having some trouble installing them. i dont know if i hook up the wiring right but my stock speakers sound better than those. i dont know what i did wrong.
1. i remove the (s**t)panel on the back
2. then my friend unplugged the speakers
3. the wires that came in the box were thinner than the stock ones.
4. 4 some reason my friend stripped both wires and just connect them
5. he didnt even know which one was positive or negative
5. we turned car on and my stock had way more bass than the new ones?

switch the wires (pos and neg) on one speaker... both speakers have to move in and out at the same time to produce bass... i'm guessing one of you speakers is moving in while the other is moving out at the same time thus canceling the bass

Are you running an aftermarket headunit?
Are you running an amp to those?

they are probably just crappy speakers.
