Rear Drum To Disc Break Conversion Question:

I own a 96 EK coupe with stock breaks. I have a chance to buy a ITR rear disc break system for less then $100. (Rear Disc System seems to be bare bones) My Question is, What all extra parts would be needed and/or what addition modifications would be needed to convert my EK coupe from Drum to Disc Breaks?

for one thing you're going to have to get different wheels since the ITR is a 5lug and civics are 4lug. that alone might make you want to reconsider something else. LS or GSR are both 4lug

You need the full rear trailing arm assembly from a 94-01 integra or a 99-00 civic si.

You need emergency brake cables from a 99-00 Si as well, or you can make the integra ones fit but it can be diificult.

The biggest pain will probably be routing the ebrake cables. Keep the toe arm from your civic. Do not mess with the adjustable side and you can leave your alignment alone.

also you really won't benefit from the performance upgrade unless you're autocrossing or doing track days. There is very minimal benefit other than aesthetics.

also obviously you're probably going to want new brake pads, brake fluid. possibly new rotors depending on the condition. your under 100$ deal probably isnt going to be a under 100$ modification.

don't forget the proportioning valve. need to change to the 4040 valve (believe the 99-00 SI has the one you want) and perhaps go with a bigger master cylinder as well. I THINK the SI's is a 15/16" cylinder, but if you hit the salvage yard, look for an EK with stock rear disks and then check the master cylinder on it. Should be the one you want.

there are integra type r that are not 5 lug but they are 4x114.3 instead of 4x100 and i think that is on the 96 spec ITR.

you do not need the whole rear trailing arm if your getting civic si rear brakes, all you need is the rear knuckle and brake swap but im not sure if the integra rear knuckle is the same.

the dx,hx and si all share the same part number for the prop valve so you can get one from any of these cars if you have an ex because its the only one with a different part number

If it is a 4x114.3 spindle, I have heard it is very difficult to simply install 4x100 hubs... something about the spline being too long, cant remember exactly. There was a reason why I stayed 4x114.3 instead of just going to 4x100 when my rear bearings went out on my teg.
